All proceeds from this mixtape go to the brilliant people at Help Musicians UK and Music in Detention.

The songs on this mixtape were recorded between April - September 2020 by artists as submissions to the season 1 of the Old Tunes Fresh Takes podcast. Each month we take a traditional tune, record a completely new take of it and then discuss the results.

Recording quality doesn't matter - some takes are full multitrack mixes and some are recorded on a phone or tablet. As you'll hear though, the quality has been incredible and each of these unique and sometimes provocative arrangements adds something valuable to the conversation.

Some of these songs bring up difficult or uncomfortable themes and a big part of the project is understanding how modern musicians engage with these archaic ideas. Head to our Soundcloud page or find us on your favourite podcast app to hear us go into the tunes in-depth.
